OCTOBER STUDENT PROFILE: TIGER NIGAMATZYOANOV
This year we will be doing a monthly profile of a different IIT student—so you may see some of interesting and exciting work that is occurring on campus and in the community. Make sure to check back the beginning of each month to find out more about the new student profile of the month!
The student profile for October is Tiger Nigamatzyoanov.
Tiger Nigamatzyanov is a current Architectural Enginnering student at IIT who helped found Siegel Construction, which is the first construction company founded by current IIT students. The mission of Siegel Construction is to bring project management techniques and knowledge from large scale developments into smaller level projects.

Tiger transferred to IIT last fall--the history of IIT and the way it was founded played an important role in his college decision. Chicago minister Frank Gunsaulus delivered the “million dollar Semon” in which he claimed that if he had a million dollars he would start a school for everyone, not just the wealthy and elite. Philip Armour took him on his word and donated this money for him to start a school and be the first president of the institution. Tiger speaks on how this story really hit home for him, “ He inspired this university by the power of idea from 1893 till our days. Entrepreneurial spirit is driven by students, faculty, and staff. IIT teaches you to find innovation solutions and helps you to bring an idea into reality.”
Joining the IIT community provided Tiger with the necessary tools to fulfill his dream of opening his own construction management company. On campus he met other students who shared his interests and passion in architectural engineering as well as the practical information he learned through different engineering courses. ”At IIT we learn basics of engineering and main aspects of project management, and apply them on projects at the same time. Also, sustainable building construction is our main priority, and we want to be the number one construction company in providing new savvy technologies and environmental friendly solutions into all our projects,” stated Tiger.
More recently he had a chance to move from small scale projects, to a more complex project including multiple subcontractors, scheduling, and budgeting. He outlines how his coursework at IIT helped support the work they do at Siegel Construction. “ Last semester I had a Construction scheduling class and we learned different techniques that large companies are using; therefore, everything I learned in a class was applied on our daily routine on a project. Working everyday with an architect and owner, we strived to be on schedule and not to spend even a penny more than ‘Project Maximum Price.’ Our project wrapped up in 52 days including Saturdays and Sundays, on budget and all parties were happy – all a result of our hard work and commitment to provide excellence.”

I am impressed by the sucess and accomplishments of our students every day. Tiger is a wonderful example of what can be achieved--even while you are a current student! Make sure to check back in November for a new student profile.
Thanks,
Carolyn
